Hi,
I just felt the unfortunate sting of defeat when purchasing tickets for an upcoming A.F.I. show at the Fillmore (formerly State Theatre) in Detroit. The tickets were $28.00 each which seemed great considering how high concert prices have been lately, so I clicked the link to buy and it sent me Ticketmaster's "ticketing partner" LiveNation.com. I had 10 minutes to accept the tickets (without being told what seats they were, just floor section), register for a LiveNation account, enter my contact info, billing info and credit card info. Just before credit card info, they told me the fees....$12.00 PER TICKET!
I thought "This has to be a mistake, or maybe it is because I am buying through a pre-sale." So, I checked for tickets that are already on sale for a show in New York. Those tickets were $26.00 with a fee of $12.00 per ticket also. I called the box office for the venue and it said the only time you can buy tickets directly from them is for two hours preceding an event happening there. I live over an hour away and don't think I want to be hanging around outside in downtown Detroit at 6pm or whenever the next show is (not all events are even listed anywhere and LiveNation.com is the only business listing the Fillmore has!). So, I bought the tickets and paid the outrageous fees, but I am seriously considering only going to shows where I can buy the tickets in person. Sorry for ranting. Have a pleasant evening!
